Day 1: Arrive Saigon
Arrive in the evening at Saigon airport. After clearing customs, proceed outside the airport where your driver waits to take you to your hotel. In the evening you will have time to wander the streets of Saigon to get your first feel for the city. Be sure to catch the sunset from one of the city’s rooftop terraces. This is a great way to begin to experience the lively atmosphere of Saigon and form your first impressions of Vietnam. (-/-/-)
Day 2: Saigon City Tour
After having breakfast at the hotel, your guide will join you and take you on a walking tour of the city’s highlights. After enjoying a tasty and traditional pho noodle soup for lunch, the group will join together with our mechanics and other Vietnamese companions who will be providing you with advice and experience as we get our first taste of the Vespa experience. First, you will take a back seat and just be a passenger in order to get a feel for the flow of traffic as a participant and not just an observer from the sidewalk. When you feel a bit more comfortable you will drive your own on some of the calmer roads of Saigon.
Our first ride takes us to the area called China Town. While you were undoubtedly amazed at the never-ending stream of motorbikes that fill the streets of Saigon, you will now enjoy the feeling of becoming part of this crowd. You will merge with these riders and experience firsthand the friendliness of the Vietnamese people and how they welcome you into their world.
On our first tour, we will also visit the famous Giac Lam Pagoda which is said to be the oldest within the city. Next, our trip takes us through seemingly rural areas within the metropolis of Saigon. Through our guidance, you will begin to know the city beyond the major tourist centre.
After a drink at the river bank on the peninsula Thanh, we head back to the city. The evening and dinner are at your leisure. (approx. 40k/24 miles) (B/L/-)
Day 3: Saigon – Long Hai – Ho Tram
After breakfast at the hotel, we will leave the city and head for the coast on our Vespas. In Cat Lai, we will take the ferry crossing and continue driving toward Long Hai. Along the way, we will make frequent stops for breaks in the shade of the Indian rubber trees and fruit plantations. This gives us all a chance to enjoy the day and meet local people. If you chose to not drive certain portions of the journey you are welcome to ride in the air-conditioned bus which accompanies the group and transports all the luggage.
Upon arrival at the resort in Long Hai, the beach invites you to come down for a visit. Afterward, enjoy a refreshing bath and a restful night’s sleep. (B/-/-) (Vespa travel approx. 120km/72 miles)
Day 4: Long Hai – Mui Ne
After breakfast, our Vintage Vespa Scooter Tours takes us over the roads-less-traveled along the coast to Phuoc Buu. We pass lonely bays and rock formations along the way and arrive in La Gi for lunch. In the afternoon we continue our drive toward the untouched beach sections of Mui Ne. During this journey, we visit the oldest lighthouse from Ka Ge and a local school.
Our beach hotel lies just 22km from the city of Phan Thiet. You can either chose to enjoy the remainder of the day on the beach of Mui Ne or travel further up the road to a fishing village and enjoy a bit of local culture. Here, hundreds of fish join together in the pictorial bay and offer a breathtaking sight in the evening sun.
For this evening’s dinner, we suggest enjoying a large offering of fresh, local seafood at one of Mui Ne’s many top locations. Overnight accommodation in Cocobeach Hotel. (Vespa travel approx. 137km/82 m) (B/-/-)
Day 5: Mui Ne – Strandtag
The entire day is for you to relax! Enjoy a perfect day on the beach or perhaps indulge in a massage.
For those that want to do more exploring of the area, the Vespas are of course at your disposal. (B/-/-)
Day 6: Mui Ne – Ninh Chu
Early in the morning, we leave Mui Ne to experience dawn at the nearby sand dunes. Enjoy the morning amongst the dunes while having your picnic breakfast complete with champagne before we drive north along the coast with our Vespas. Today you will have many photo opportunities as we drive 135km through the beautiful countryside of lonely beach bays and breath-taking landscapes while meeting the friendly local people along the way. Our final destination for the day is Ninh Chu where we will overnight at Hotel Den Gion. (Vespa travel approx. 135k/81m) (B/-/-)
Day 7: Ninh Chu – Dalat
Today we will travel 115 km. After having an extensive breakfast at the hotel we settle back into seats once again and begin to make our way to Dalat. For this journey, we take one of the most romantic roads which winds itself along Cham Heiligtümer, coffee and tea plantations, and fruit orchards and flower meadows. We will make many stops along the way to enjoy this change in climate, vegetation, and scenery. European climate prevails in Dalat and you will be struck by the abrupt change you have just witnessed.
Dinner is on your own and the evening is for you to explore and enjoy. Tonight we stay in a colonial hotel. (115k/69m) (B/-/-)
Day 8: Dalat
Our entire day today will be spent investigating this French-designed city.
The city was built as a retreat for the French to escape the heat of the city during the hot summer months. In order to make themselves feel a bit more at home, they created a lake in the centre of the city and built their chateaus on the hills in the area to take full advantage of the view. We will make an initial exploratory route through the city on the Vespas. We will visit pagodas, monuments, notable buildings, and the markets. The remainder of the day is yours to either continue your examination of the city, schedule a tee time, and enjoy a round of golf of one of the city’s courses, or just relax on a patio and enjoy the fresh, crisp air. (B/-/-)
Day 9: Dalat – Nha Trang
After breakfast, we will make our way back to the coast. This time our destination is Nha Trang and it is the most well-known resort town in Vietnam. We take a route which is further north this time and once again offers beautiful scenery and cultural treasures we are sure to visit along the way.
Once we reach the lively city of Nha Trang we will check into the hotel and the remainder of the day is yours to discover the city.
Evening at leisure and dinner on your own. (B/-/-)
Day 10: Nha Trang
Today we offer an investigation route around the city and the surrounding rural area. 2 main sites of interest are the largest salt fields in Vietnam which are located on one of the peninsulas and the local Cham Temples.
The afternoon and evening are again yours to enjoy on your own. (B/-/-).
Day 11: Exploring Nha Trang
Beach and ocean day! Today is focused completely on relaxation and recovery. The sandy beach awaits and the sea will offer your body the refreshment it needs after many days on the Vespa. Also, consider taking advantage of a massage or another wellness treatment the Vietnamese are famous for. (B/-/-)
Day 12: Nha Trang – Saigon. End of Vespa Scooter Tours.
Today we leave Nha Trang and fly back to Saigon. From here you can either depart for your home destination, spend a bit more time in Saigon, or head directly to an extension of your vacation. Perhaps you would like to next explore the island of Phu Quoc just off the southwest coast of Vietnam, or combine this adventure with a tour of Angkor Wat and the other treasures Cambodia holds. End this amazing Vintage Vespa Scooter Tours. (B/-/-)
