Day 1: Arrive Hanoi

Pickup from Noi Bai Airport. Transfer to Hanoi, then start our first day of this 25 days Trans Vietnam motorbiking.

Today we have plenty of time to discover the pearl of South-East Asia: Hanoi. With charming streets, lined with dozens of old trees, beautiful lakes, colonial architecture and countless interesting monuments, this city will impress you with its lively characters. We begin our city-trip at the Restored Sword Lake, famous of the legend of the tortoise and the sword of the 15th century. After the bombardment of this lake by the Americans in 1968, the huge turtle was killed and the little pagoda in the water is the final resting place of this legendary animal. We will continue our way with a visit to the Temple of Literature, dedicated to Confucius and his disciples. This temple used to be Vietnam’s first university founded in 1076 to learn about Confucianism in Vietnam.

After visiting this historical site you will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the house of the Uncle Ho Chi Minh. In reality, he lives in the heart of every Vietnamese. We also pay a visit to the Tran Quoc Pagoda and the Quan Thanh Temple. At these places, you will learn more about Buddhism and Taoism in Vietnam. Those are the three most important religions in Vietnam. We finish our city-tour by participating in a one-hour ride in a traditional rickshaw (Cyclo-bike) around Hanoi’s old quarter. After dining at a local restaurant, we visit the famous water puppet show.

Finally, stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 2: Hanoi – Thac Ba Lake

Our journey takes you along the Red River to discover the Agriculture Civilization of Viet and Muong people in the Red River Delta. On the way, we will make some stops along the road to visit some traditional house and villages of Viet and Muong people. Then we arrive in Yen Bai city. Next, you will take a two hours cruise to the other side of the lake. Finally, check in our host families of White Trouser Dao ethnic. We provide all hot showers fresh water, blankets, mosquito-nets; pillows… enjoy traditional dinner with the delicious cook of Dao people. We also provide the cooking class for free for you to learn about the local food.

Day 3: Thac Ba – Sapa

Honestly, today is a long day of our 25 days Trans Vietnam motorbiking. In return, the ride is exciting and you take in the beautiful landscape.

You enjoy breakfast of local rice-cakes with soup “Banh Cuon”, with fresh fruits. Then we continue along the East side of Thac Ba lake with beautiful scenery of thousands of green island. And through the beautiful villages of Tay people with rice paddies on the limestone-rock mountain. Visit the biggest Luc Yen Red Rock of Vietnam as an area where people are mining and selling them at the town market. Finally, we continue our trip to Sapa.

Day 4: Sapa trek

Today we enjoy the trek to discover the spirits of Sapa hundred years-the local Mong and Dao people who migrated to Vietnam from China and chose Sapa as one of the homelands and to continue their rich traditional cultures there. We learn how they renounced the habit of opium plan and move to the wet rice and herbal-medical tree plan now. Picnic lunch will be provided on the mountainside. After 5 hour trek of Ta Van and Lao Chai villages, you ride back to Sapa and overnight in Sapa.

Day 5: Sapa-Bac Ha – Xin Man

We ride down the hill to Lao Cai to visit Lao Cai international trading border and Red river with mark the natural border between Vietnam and China. Then visit the temple right at the border and listen to the story of a heavy war with Black-Flag Chinese army.

After lunch in Ba Ha town, we make our journey to Xin Man. On the way we make some stops to walk through villages of Flower Mong and Nung ethnic.

Day 6: Xin Man – Ha Giang

Today we pass by Hoang Su Phi and many villages of Black Mong, Nung, on the road and 100 km long up and down mountain passes with amazing landscape of mountainous rice paddies. Then we continue along the Lo river to Ha Giang and spend the night in Ha Giang town. Enjoy a great dinner at a floating bamboo restaurant in the Lo river.

Day 7: Ha Giang – Meo Vac

Rise and shine for a few hours trek to many of the Heaven Gates such as Quan Ba, Yen Binh, and Dong Van. They are called so because one gets the feeling of touching the sky, the heaven gates. This is the best time and place to enjoy the wonderful sightseeing of the vast limestone mountain range and perpendicular walls of rock, which brings one a feeling of adventure while being lost in a magic land. Here we are surrounded by many rocks of all shapes and sizes.

After lunch at Yen Minh town, the scenic route climbs over a pass before arriving at Pho Bang, also called Pho Bang Street, which was built many centuries ago and features multi-story houses made of clay bricks and tile roofs. Then we continue our trip to visit the infamous Vuong Palace, a H’Mong family of high rank during French colonial rule. This palace attracts keen interest from architecturally minded visitors due to its mixed style of European and Chinese architecture. After bidding farewell, we take time to climb over the Ma Pi Leng Pass from which we can see and enjoy a beautiful view of the sunset overlooking the Nho Que river.

Visiting these remote areas, we will bear witness to how hard the local people struggle with their environment for their survival and development. Because the living conditions are extremely harsh, there is barely any arable land within the rocky mountains; the people who live there survive on a diet of corn, which is the only crop able to grow in the rocky soil. Even though this hardship, the local people are very friendly, simple yet have developed a strong attachment to other people. They are the soul of this remote area.

Day 8: Meo Vac – Bac Me

The Meo Vac market lasts till the mid-afternoon but we prefer to introduce you to another wild market of Lung Phin. This is the most typical of traditional custom even the local people here they still use their own calendar-the calendar of twelve animals – the markets are every day of Monkey and Tiger day. However, the tour will hit the road before lunch, as today is a real challenge as the group travels by a track through a forest. The rolling rocky roads take you to hell on a rainy day. However, the breath-taking scenery makes the hardship all worthwhile.

Meo Vac is a land of rugged mountains and beautiful hill villages being unchanged for centuries. The Lung Phin market attracts a wide variety of ethnic minority groups, which walk all the way from their mountain villages to Lung Phin market, in order to trade goods and products. Market sessions provide a chance for locals to promenade and young men and women in colourful costumes to meet, date, or seek sweethearts. For this market session in the northern mountainous areas are often called the Love Markets. Visiting Lung Phin market, one can shop in a very original mountain market where all kinds of goods and multi-coloured clothes can be purchased.

Day 9: Bac Me – Cao Bang

Today we make our trip along with the upstream of Gam river surrounding green rice fields, villages…local people of H’Mong, Tay, Dao, Lo Lo, Ha Nhi …the trip passes by Bao Lac, Nguyen Binh towns.

Day 10: Cao Bang – Quang Uyen

The morning after a short visit to Cao Bang town. The national vestiges are some of this hill town’s major sights which are left from the French Colonial Listening to the history of Indochina war during the years of the 1950s along the defending High-way 4. We have a chance to visit these before we leave out for Ma Phuc Pass direction to enter into thousands of innumerable vast steep limestone karsts area and visit the North and North East’s district which is home to Nung and Tay ethnic people. After lunch, we visit Phija Chang village of Nung An, which was located by Nung An ethnic people 300 years ago. This village is famous for traditional handicraft like a hamper or a knife, weave fabric and so on.

Day 11: Quang Uyen – Ban Gioc

Enjoy our day explore the spectacular scenery and the wonderful world of local ethnic minority people. Along the way to visit Ban Gioc waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfall in Vietnam, which form a natural border between Vietnam and China. The echo of the falls can be heard kilometres away. In the rainy season, the waterfall makes the scenery even more magnificent. While here we will take a bamboo raft trip and have a picnic lunch. We also have a chance visiting China in the other river bank and on the way back to Quang Uyen our guide will take you to visit some villages which were troop stationed of the French Army and talk to some deponent, who are old now, were working for the French as “nguoi cat co chan ngua”.

Day 12: Quang Uyen trek

You are lucky to be our client to be offered of our typical trek today to the remote villages of Tay, Nung villages. This is one of the most typical of our trek in the north of Vietnam. You will recognize that you are lucky to be free to discover the amazing landscapes and sweet-heart local people without seeing any white tourist and also be a surprise of local cultures and habits. We will make about 5 hours trek to visit villages where they make incenses to pray for their ancestors and a village where they make local rough paper from mulberry trees.

Day 13: Quang Uyen – Mau Son

The most impressive landscape of Cao Bang is the riding from Quang Uyen to Dong Khe. The scenery of the road is unequalled with the steep limestone mountain and green rows of sugarcane fields. After seeing this scenic site, we continue our journey following the historical National Highway No 4 with the famous battles, such as Dong Khe, That Khe, Coc Xa or Lung Phay Pass…after the lunch in That Khe.

The journey north continues along the National Highway 4 and follows the Ky Cung river which flows around the foot of limestone mountains to Lang Son.

It’s about 30 kilometres from Lang Son city to Mau Son. The winding narrow mountain path, like a snake, lies tucked between 2 steep mountains. Then we climb to reach the top of Mau Son to surroundings 1542 m above the sea level. This area’s picture risqué scenery turn it a Sapa in miniature characterized with the beautiful steep mountains. In the late afternoon, we can enjoy comfortable sightseeing at sunsets in Mau Son and observe China at the foot of the mountain.

Day 14: Mau Son – Ha Long

We will go down the mount and hill close to the sea by continuing the National road Highway 4 pass by Na Duong, Dinh Lap, Tien Yen and then following the South China Sea coach to Ha Long City. Then we take a ferry to Bai Chay. After checking in a hotel, you will have free time to take a walk along the Bai Chay beach or enjoying your swimming there.

Day 15: Ha Long Bay

After the breakfast in the hotel, we enjoy our day to discover the World Heritage site of Ha Long with thousands of limestone island with famous Thien Cung, Dau Go…caves. We also visit some floating villages where people spend all their lives on the sea. Visiting children schools in Lan Ha Bay, then at sunset, put on the sails and enjoying the fresh swimming or fishing till the night.

Day 16: Ha Long – Cat Ba – Ninh Binh

After breakfast, our boat will land into Cat Ba island where our car is waiting. Back to our car again and continue through the National park. Passing by Cat Hai island with our car on the ferry there you can visit one of the biggest and most famous of fish and shrimp sauced station in the North of Vietnam.

When we arrive in Hai Phong we take some minutes to visit Hai Phong International Sea Trading Harbour. Then continue our trip on the National road number 10 pass by Thai Binh and Nam Dinh City to Ninh Binh.

Day 17: Ninh Binh – Dong Ha

Today we have full day explore the Tam Coc-The Ha Long on the mainland-by cruising on a small river through wonderful green rice fields. Visit the Dinh and Le Temples where we worship our first Dynasties in Vietnam of the 10 century. Then it is free time to relax and preparing for the night train to Dong Ha.

Day 18: DMZ – Cua Tung Mouth

DMZ-The De-Militarized Zone between North and South Vietnam was established in April 1954. This happened as a result of the Geneva Conference ending the war between the Viet Minh and the French. In general, the DMZ in Vietnam lay at the 17th parallel. In reality, the DMZ extended about a mile on either side of the Ben Hai River. It also ran west to east from the Lao border to the East Sea. In fact, the fiercest war during the American war took place here. We take the train in the morning and then we continue to visit the DMZ by heading the National road 9 to visit Khe Sanh, Rockpile, Darkrong bridge, Lang Vay, Truong Son National Cemetery, Camp Caroll, Con Tien, Doc Mieu- Mc Namara Electric eyes wire, Hien Luong Bridge. Finally, swim in Tung Mouth beach in the sunset.

Day 19: DMZ – Hue

In the morning we visit Vinh Moc tunnel this tunnel wasn’t set up as another army tunnel Cu Chi. It was for local fishing and farming villages where they lived and hidden from the extirpation of American bombing.

Then we continue our trip to Hue by stopping to visit two other battlefields. The places are Thach Han and Quang Tri Citadel during the year of 1968 and 1972.

After checking in the hotel you have free time to relax or discover on your own the old capital city. Finally, enjoy dinner on the boat and Hue traditional folklore song show on the Perfume River.

Day 20: Explore Hue

Start the trip in Hue. This city was the political and cultural centre of the Feudal State of Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty. We take a boat ride along the Perfume River. In fact, today will take you back to appreciate the exuberance of the old imperial city in the past. Along the river, you will visit Thien Mu Pagoda, Minh Mang Tomb and then Gia Long tomb. Finally, visit the Imperial Citadel of Nguyen Dynasty.

Day 21: Hue – Hoi An

We are heading South to Hoi An. Then stop for lunch in the beautiful Lang Co beach. Finally, take a visit to Non Nuoc beach where the US marines first landed in Vietnam in 1965.

Day 22: Hoi An

Full day explore the World Culture Heritage of Hoi An. The old town is a unique concentration of architectural monuments of various forms such as living house, assembly hall, communal house, pagoda, shrine, temple, water well, bridge, wharf, market etc. has been preserved rather intact. They are along the streets that cut one another, forming palaces and giving a good example of symbolic oriental cities in the Middle Age. So wonderful with its old age and traditionally well-kept habits and customs. In fact, the town is now an excellent model of a living museum of architecture and urban lifestyle.

Day 23: Hoi An – Da Nang – Hanoi

The morning is free time to visit and after lunch shopping then transfer to Da Nang for the train at 2 pm for Hanoi.

Day 24: Hanoi

Relax and shopping more in Hanoi or more of a city tour.
