Dear Lonely Planet Team,

we would like to provide you with a recommendation based on our recent motorbike tour of central and northern Vietnam (5-14 Nov) with Offroad Vietnam (www.offroadvietnam.com)

To start with we received a very professional and detailed offer only hours after our inquiry from Offroad Vietnam. They even offered to organize the hotel and transfer from the airport (which was not needed in our case). The tour was organized very professionally with a local guide that was fluent in English and French (a Vietnamese of course). The bikes (165cc Hondas) were in very good condition and clearly better than the Minsks that are offered by most other tour operators.

What we liked most apart from the perfect organization is that Offroad Vietnam actively supports the communities that we visited by donating money for building schools or helping the minority families to build bathrooms and showers in order to qualify for home stays and create an additional income. All of this is done in a very environment-friendly manner and fostering a “soft tourism”

In summary, we felt that we got much more than we paid for and can only recommend Offroad Vietnam to others seeking a way to discover an authentic Vietnam while supporting the local families. The standard of the service we received during the tour was the best that we have experienced so far.
