MR. BILL WRIGHT’S REVIEWS OF NORTH-CENTRE VIETNAM MOTORBIKE TOUR

(Bill Wright reviews of a 7-day Honda road bike tour in Vietnam, covering approximately 1,200 km)

Bill – first from left

Although I have some complaints, they are small compared to the adventure each day contained. Beautiful country, challenging riding – fabulous people – I had a great time and will return.

Tempo of the tour and the stop-over

I found the tempo good – distances achievable if nothing went wrong. In hindsight, I would have had a rest day about halfway.

Bikes and equipment

The Honda GL Pro 160cc was perfect for the roads and conditions encountered. My bike had no front brake from day two, and although I complained nothing was done.

Accommodation

Better than I expected. The home stays were great.

Food

The food was good and plentiful towards the end became a bit repetitive.

Guide and organisation

It felt most of the time that it was the guide on holiday and not me. He seemed ill-equipped to deal with problems when they occurred. His knowledge of bike mechanics was bad – if I did not know how to fix some things – a lot of time would have been lost. He smokes constantly at meal tables while we were still eating – as a non-smoker I found this most upsetting.

Price

Price, very good.
