(Mr. Jim & Mrs. Shirley Twyford – Review of 5-Day Central North Vietnam 4×4 Tour, ~900 km)

We are lifelong independent travelers, and our trip with Offroad Vietnam was really our first organized agency type tour. In the months leading up to the trip, we exchanged dozens of emails with Anh Wu. In fact, we were more interested in cultural aspects than geography and sightseeing, and the trip exceeded all our expectations, as we had genuine interaction with local people on a daily basis.

Trip Reviews

The pace of the trip was fine, as it was our pace. The vehicle, a Mitsubishi 4X4 was very comfortable and the driver, Binh, was professional and pleasant. We really liked the food throughout and there was a nice variety.

The homestay in Ban Ho was really quite spectacular and the hotels the other nights were the best each town offered. In Sapa, the original hotel rooms had just been painted, and due to the smell, we were moved to the Darling Hotel, a really nice upgrade.

We feel that we got wonderful value for the price. We are photographers and had the idea of bringing along a Polaroid camera to give people instant photos of themselves and then shooting the reactions with a digital SLR and a video camera. Our guide, Ngoc, totally bought into our idea and the results were wonderful.

Our new friend and excellent guide, Ngoc Nguyen, really shaped the trip as it developed. We cannot say enough about Ngoc. He treated us like best friends and showed us his country and the people to an extent we really didn’t expect.

This was our second trip to Vietnam, and we had a much more memorable trip with Ngoc and Offroad Vietnam than on our first trip. We feel the money was well spent, as we had a priceless experience.
