Day 1: Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Phat Diem. ~170 km, ~6 h.
Today is the first day of this 2 days to Perfume Pagoda & Ninh Binh motorbike tour. Before starting to ride, we will have a short briefing to let you know about the rules. In addition, the guide will show you how to understand him by his body language. We start around 9.30am after the rush hours.
We follow a little secondary road through rice fields until Ninh Binh. Check-in a Van Xuan Inter-hotel Complex near Hoa Lu. Hike up Yen Ngua Hill to get the paramount view of Hoa Lu’s bizarre landscape. Drive on the little peaceful back road through myriads of limestone to Tam Coc. Lunch at Anh Dung restaurant.
Drive to Phat Diem and visit the Stone Church. Dive back to Van Xuan Hotel via Ninh Binh, dinner at the hotel (exquisite cuisine).
Day 2: Ninh Binh – P.Pagoda – Hanoi. ~120 km, ~3 h. End of 2 Days To Perfume Pagoda & Ninh Binh.
Drive to Perfume Pagoda on karst road through myriads of limestone. Then take the boat to the foot of the mountain. Walk to the most well-known pagoda – Huong Tich – requires a 4-km walk straight up the mountainside. Alternatively, you can take a cable car up and down in less than one hour.
It should be noted that the site attracts the greatest pilgrimage in North Vietnam during the three months following Tet (New Year according to the lunar calendar). During this time, thousands of worshipers climb the mountain to pray at the various religious sites. A city of bamboo is constructed at the base of the mountain in just one week to cater for the occasion. Impressive!
