BEST 5 DAYS ROOF ROADS MOTORBIKING
This 5-day Roof Roads motorbike tour is one of the best two-wheel adventures in Northern Vietnam. Due to long riding hours and rough roads, riders need intermediate or advanced riding skills. In return, you will enjoy stunning landscapes, authentic hill tribes, and delicious Vietnamese food.
If you don’t have five days, we can shorten this route to 4 days. This means longer riding hours by combining day 2 and day 3 into one day.

Day 1: Hanoi – Nghia Lo. ~180 km, ~7 h.
Today is the first day of this amazing 5-day Roof Roads motorbike tour. Before starting, we will have a short briefing about the rules, and the guide will show you how to understand him through body language. We start around 9:30am after the rush hour.
An easy ride on sealed roads follows the river via Son Tay to Trung Ha Bridge. Then we head into the low hills of the Hoang Lien Range towards Thu Cuc. Ride through peaceful countryside with beautiful rice fields until Khe Pass, the first mountain pass of the main range, where Fansipan, the peak of Indochina, is located.
A nice and quiet cruise via Ba Khe to Nghia Lo. Around half of today’s ride is on mountain roads with great scenery along the way.
Overnight at a hotel.

Day 2: Nghia Lo – Than Uyen. ~140 km, ~6 h.
Today we ride on wild and bumpy roads as we cross the Mu Cang Chai massif, a mountain range almost as high as Fansipan. From the top, we will enjoy one of the most spectacular views in Northern Vietnam, with endless mountains and breathtaking landscapes.
Once we reach Than Uyen, we can spend some time exploring the surrounding area and visiting local villages to experience the peaceful life and culture of the hill tribes.
Night in a hotel.
Day 3: Than Uyen – Sapa. ~140 km, ~5 h.
Start the morning with a walk or a stroll around Than Uyen. This area is mainly inhabited by Flower H’mong and Dzao ethnic people, offering a great chance to discover the local culture and daily life.
Then we continue towards Sapa. The first 100 km is an easy ride on a beautiful track, followed by 40 km of winding asphalt mountain roads. We can stay overnight in Sapa, or if the weather is good and everyone feels like riding more, we can continue to Muong Hum where we spend the night with the Giay people.
The final 40 km is on dirt roads with beautiful scenery – a truly enjoyable ride.
Day 4: Sapa – Vu Linh. ~200 km, ~7 h.
We start the day riding down to Lao Cai before heading towards Thac Ba Lake. Until Luc Yen, the road is easy and fully asphalted.
From there, we take a quieter secondary road following the shores of Thac Ba Lake, passing through the territory of the Dzao and Tay ethnic people. We continue to the traditional village of Vu Linh, where we will spend the night with our local friends and experience the peaceful village life.

Day 5: Vu Linh – Hanoi. ~180 km, ~6 h. End of Best 5 Days Roof Roads Motorbiking.
Today we ride back to Hanoi on a combination of normal roads and easy tracks.
We try to arrive in Hanoi before 5pm to avoid the rush hour. If we arrive later, you should still be comfortable with the city traffic after the riding experience you have gained over the past few days.
