This is one of the best tours we offer in Halong Bay and Cat Ba area. In just three days, you enjoy cruising on a sailboat, rock climbing, traditional boating, and motorbiking on Cat Ba island which looks like a mini Northwest Vietnam.

Day 1: Hanoi – Bai Chay – Halong. ~170 km, ~5 hrs.

Drive to Halong City (Hon Gai part) in 4 hours. A junk is waiting for us to cruise in Halong Bay at Hon Gai Port (no tourists here!). Seafood lunch on the boat. Boat to Thien Cung or Sung Sot (Amazing) cave or even a forgotten cave, a fishing village, and then through myriads of limestone karsts to Ba Trai Dao (Three Peach Fruit Islet) or a restricted area of Cat Ba National Park. Swim and sleep here.

Overnight on private junk.
Lunch, dinner, permits, and entrance fees.

Day 2: Cat Ba – Boating.

Cruise to Cat Ba. Cat Ba is at the far end of Halong Bay. Cat Ba still lives from the resources of the sea. Tourism is developed and of high quality. Cat Ba Bay is a miniature of Halong Bay, its labyrinth of limestone karsts so dense that it is difficult to imagine we are in the sea.

We created this itinerary – the floating Institute where they have a big farm to raise fish. They are our personal friends and the relationship with them is close.
Last but not least, Monkey Island (Cat Dua Islet). This has been totally ignored by mass tourism and has nothing special except the fact that there is nobody on the island except the monkeys and some forest rangers who care for them. Banana is the best gift we can give them. They usually go down at about 15.00 to get the food but there is no guarantee that you will see them. We then hike up the shark teeth rocks to get to the top of the island to have a panorama of Cat Ba Bay.
Arrive in Cat Ba and check in to a hotel.

Day 3: Cat Ba – Hanoi. ~120 km, ~3 hrs. ~3 hours motorbiking

Motorbiking on Cat Ba Island in the morning on the mountain road and come back along the coast for about 60 km in 3 hours. Ride on a very quiet road with a stunning landscape which in fact looks like a mini Northwest Vietnam mountain road. Fast ferry at 2.45 pm to Hai Phong. Drive to Hanoi on highway 5 (~2 hours) and arrive in Hanoi around 6 pm.

Breakfast, lunch, permits, and entrance fees.

A public bus is an option and the price will be cheaper than using a private car.

CRUISING HA LONG BAY

(3 days, 2 nights)

Day 1

08:30 – Depart from Ha Noi for a 3.5-hour private coach ride to Ha Long City through the Red River Delta. Transfer to the junk for lunch with fresh seafood (vegetarians catered for) while you embark on a 4-hour cruise into the bay to see the incredible karst formations.

Check into your cabin after lunch then take in the stunning scenery as you cruise Bai Tu Long Bay via Hon Cap De, Dong Tam Cung, and Hang Trinh where you’ll see a unique floating fishing village. Stop at Titop Island to relax and swim at your leisure before cruising to a quiet firth for a great sunset dinner. Relax under the starlit sky before retiring to the comfort of your cabin.

Day 2

There are two options to choose from today:

Option 1: (Relaxing) After breakfast, take a smaller boat for a cruise to the barbecue beach where you can relax and swim while waiting for the kayak option group to arrive and share lunch with you (if the weather is bad, you may eat on the boat). After lunch, visit a floating village before returning to the junk.

Option 2: (Adventure – Sea Kayak Discovery) After breakfast, take a smaller boat to the kayaking area where you’ll be given a lesson on safety and paddling by our expert guide. After that, explore the mystical bay, visit beaches or a lagoon cave (depending on tidal conditions), and go swimming. Meet the relaxing option Group at the barbecue beach for a great lunch, then continue paddling to explore more of the Bay before returning to the junk.

Day 3

(Brunch): 07:00 to 08:00 – Fruit, tea, coffee, and Vietnamese pastries will be available. 07:30 – Start cruising to Sung Sot (Amazing Cave), before moving on to a quiet firth for a morning swim. Afterward, a brunch buffet will be served while you continue cruising through the bay back to Ha Long City. Check out is after 11:30 before returning to the Jetty to transfer to the private coach back to Ha Noi. Arrival at around 16:00.
